The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) has hired the Centre for Social Policy of the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to carry out the evaluation of several development projects in Latin America, entirely or partially funded by the IAF. Throughout 2007, FGV evaluators carried out the assessment of twelve IAF-sponsored projects spread out around Latin America. Project goals ranged from an increase in the income of small-scale producers Guadalajara in Mexico, to help for low-income, rural Nicaraguans affected by Hurricane Mitch to recover productive capacity, and prevent future environmental disasters.
