Marcelo Neri resumes activities at FGV and reestablishes the Center for Social Policy

01/08/2015

Economist Marcelo Neri has resumed activities at Fundação Getulio Vargas and reestablished the Center for Social Policy (CPS). The center had been inactive since September 2012, when Neri took over the presidency of the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA), a position that was later added to his role as executive secretary of the Council for Economic and Social Development (CDES) and as head minister of the Strategic Affairs Office of the Presidency of the Republic (SAE/PR).  In August, his quarantine ended after his exit from the SAE.

In recent months, Marcelo Neri has lectured at several places, such as Columbia, Brown and Princeton, in the US; the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris; the London School of Economics (LSE) in London; the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos; and the World Institute for Development Economics Research (WIDER) in Helsinki. The last lecture took place in Lima (Peru), bringing together different policy makers to discuss the prospects for Latin America and the Caribbean.
